Year 1 Readiness
Progression from Early Years
Our Early Years curriculum is designed to develop the characteristics of effective learning:
● Creating and thinking critically – children have and develop their own ideas, make links between ideas, and develop strategies for doing things.
● Active learning – children keep on trying if they encounter difficulties, and enjoy their achievements.
● Playing and exploring – children investigate and experience things, and ‘have a go’.
We use these characteristics when planning our curriculum and enhancements. This reflects the values and skills needed to promote responsibility for learning and Year 1 readiness.
For National Curriculum subjects, the progression documents below show how we underpin the skills, knowledge, concepts and values needed to be Year 1 ready...and beyond!
These progression documents then flow from Year 1 right through to Year 6 (you can see subject progression documents on each subject page).
